A Fun 4th of July!...Well, kind of... Ok, the first half of the day was fun!

Our 4th of July started out really fun! We had a yummy brunch at our house (egg, sausage & cheese sandwiches on English muffins! Yum!). Ryan, as you can see, was happy to cook the food, and the rest of us were happy to eat it!
Scooter, Aubs & Tyler. Some day we will have a kitchen table! ha ha
After brunch we went swimming at Tyler's aunts house. It was so nice of them to invite us - and we really had a good time!

Mar Mar did a good job swimming!
Hanging out in the pool. There is even a slide - how cool is that?!
Scooter splashing Daddy!
Scooter floating with Erica.
After swimming we headed back to Nanny's house for a bbq of course! (I'm not sure it's legal to eat anything but grilled food for dinner on the 4th of July!).

Scooter loves to help Ry with the grill, or the "hot" as he calls it!
Having fun - jumping on the tramp!
Sitting down & letting Mar Mar have a turn jumping!
Go Mauri! I thought her hair looked so cool in this picture!!
Swinging and just having a good time playing in the backyard!
Mauri - coloring with chalk!
Our bbq was great and we were all having a fun time just being together. We were all standing around talking, watching the kiddos play and Ry was jumping on the tramp. We heard this noise - I'm not even sure how to describe it! But it was not a good noise - Ryan had jumped through the trampoline - not the springs but the actual middle of the trampoline!! In the few seconds it took us all to rush to the tramp, he pulled his foot back up and we could see that it was swollen and getting bigger. I kind of freaked out. It is scary when someone you love gets hurt. We were all pretty positive that his ankle was broken because by the time he could climb off the trampoline it was seriosly the size of a grapefruit! Glendon & I took him to the hospital (thank you G-man for coming with us...and for driving! And thank you Lins, Erica & Papa for taking care of Scooter while we were gone). It took a while but we were able to get x-rays and finally meet with a doctor. He said they didn't think it was broken - which was such a miralce because it was so swollen, and he has actually broken that ankle before - but really badly sprained. They wrapped it for him, gave us some pain meds & gave us the number of an orthopedic doctor just in case his ankle wasn't feeling better in a week or so. We were so grateful it wasn't broken - and that he didn't need surgery or anything because it really looked pretty awful! Here is a picture of what it looked like yesterday - and in this pic the swelling had gone down a lot!!
Ouch!!!
While we were waiting to meet with the Dr. we could hear the fireworks from the Stadium of Fire - and we kept looking at each other and saying that we needed to get out of there before the Stadium of Fire was finished and there was tons and tons of traffic!! We were pretty fortunate because we got out before most of the traffic piled up, which was very lucky!!
I guess we have to be careful what we wish for! The 5th is our anniversary, and a few days before this I had asked Ry what he wanted for our anniversary, and he said (totally joking, I'm sure): "Not to have to go to church." Well...he got his wish! ha ha. Ok, ok, and all day on the 3rd and on the 4th I kept saying I wish there was some way we could see the fireworks at Stadium of Fire...Guess I have to be careful what I wish for too! tee hee!

Yeah, talk about a 4th of July to remember, huh?! It seems to get feeling a little better each day - so that's good! :)
