Aubrey's Shower: Take Two!

Tyler's family gave Aubrey a shower last Saturday. The theme was "My Favorite Things," - so we ate some of Aubrey's favorite foods and lots of people brought a gift corresponding with their favorite thing(s). We had a really great time meeting Tyler's extended family - they are so nice! And when a few of them got teary-eyed while they were talking about their favorite things (mostly when they were talking about family!) we knew we were among kindred spirits! After all, our family motto is: No One Cries Alone - and it's so true!

Whew-whew! (ok, that's supposed to be like a whistle, but how do you show the sound for a whistle?... interesting!)
They received lots of cool gifts - including a set of really cool square plates that I generously offered to "store" for them if they don't have room. Thoughtful of me, huh?!

Cousin Playdates!

Mauri and Derek really have a good time playing together! Two weeks ago Mar Mar came to play at our house while Lins & Glendon went to dinner! They played with Derek's tools, jumped on the bed and just had a good time together! Then on Saturday, after Aubrey's shower (take 2) we went to Lins & Glendon's for dinner and Mar & Derek were able to play some more!

Here are the two cuties at our house!
Playing in Mauri's room on her little couch! We told them to smile - and as you can see they've both got that down!!
Mauri - a.k.a "Mother Goose." After Mar wore this costume, Scooter wanted to wear it too!
Jumping on Mar Mar's bed!
Cousin's make great friends!!

Mom's Big Helper!

Scooter is such a big helper! He will put the silverware in the dishwasher for me and help me take the dishes out. And whenever I'm cooking he loves to help me stir! Grandma Miyake made this apron for him & gave it to him when they came out for Katelynn & Steven's wedding. He loves to wear it around the house! And the other day we ran some errands and he had to wear his apron to the store!

What a cutie!!

Thanks again Granmda for the cool apron!

Aubreys Shower: Take One

We are SO excited for Aubrey & Tyler! Their big day is almost here! Wow! On Saturday we had a shower for Aubs- and we had a blast of course! (our family believes in having fun, right guys?!) Thank you so much to everyone who came. It was so nice to visit with everyone and Aubrey's quilt turned out really cute! Here are some fun pictures we took that day!

The shower was at the clubhouse at Lindsay's new apartment. It was so nice! When we walked in I said: "I want to have a big room like this in my house!" Here is Aubs, Erica, my Mom & Lins getting everything set up.
Me & my Merry Sunshine!
Sue Ann & Erica
Aubs, Granny & Ashley
Tying the quilt! I hate to admit it, but that was the first time that I had actually tied a quilt! I thought it was really fun!
A big group shot at the end! (sorry that we missed getting a big picture with everyone who was there at the beginning... Come back this Saturday & we'll hang out again just so we can get a picture! ha ha!)
The food! Yum! We really had a lot of great food (surprise surprise, huh?!?). Lins made her famous "oreo balls," and if you haven't tried them you are missing out!! My mom made strawberry fluff, yummy fruit salad & homemade rolls. We had a few pasta salads and eclairs and brownies from BYU. (those BYU brownies are one of my favorite things, ever!)
Tyler and his mom, Kay, and his sister, Ashley. They are so sweet!!
The big room that I want in my house! There was plenty of room for everyone, and the TV wasn't bad either! Ryan made a movie for Aubs when she graduated from high school and it had music and pictures of her all growing up - so we showed that for everybody to see!
More quilting!
The quilt really turned out so cute!! Oh, and aren't Aubs & Tyler so cute together!?!?
Mauri enjoyed the wrapping paper from the presents!
Aubrey's Shower Take Two is coming this Saturday. Tylers mom & aunts are throwing a shower for her! I thougth that was so nice!

Happy Easter!

We had a really nice Easter Sunday. We didn't go to our ward because our dr. said it was a good idea to keep Scooter away from other little kids for a few more days, so we just went to Sacrament mtg. with Aubrey & Tyler. Tyler gave a talk in church and he did a great job! He spoke about the last week in the Savior's life, and through the whole meeting I felt Heavenly Father's love so strong! There was a violin & piano musical number and it was just beautiful. It was a medley of songs, and when they played "I know that my Redeemer Lives" I just felt the Spirit so strong that I couldn't keep the tears out of my eyes! (thanks again for that gift Mom!) I love that song! I love that it talks about how He lives to guide us, comfort us, silence our fears and wipe away our tears. He lives to calm our troubled hearts. And some of my favorite words: "He lives my kind wise Heavenly friend - He lives & loves me to the end." I really feel like He is our friend! He loves us and is cheering us on. That is an amazing feeling. And He does love us, even when we're so far from perfect, and I just feel so thankful for Him and His love for us!!
We also enjoyed having Katelynn & Steven over for dinner! They brought Scooter a cute little Easter basked and it had treats and a play camera in it! He keeps carrying the camera with him and wants to bring it "with us" if we go anywhere!!
Scooter found this big cardboard box in the hall and poured a bunch of his Easter treats into it!
Taking a picture with his camera! It's so cute because a light flashes when you take the picture & there's a little screen on the back that shows a cutel little picture of an animal. The picture changes every time you "take" a picture!

Getting Better!

My Handsome Boys!

Scooter is doing MUCH better - and we're so grateful! It was no fun to have him so sick! He's never been that sick before - and I'm just so thankful that he is really a healthy kid & doesn't get sick very often! I am also so very grateful to Everyone for letting us know you were thinking of us! I don't think I can describe how helpful that support was and how it just lifted my spirits! I know that it could have been much, much worse - but when we had to go to the doctor and hospital several days in a row, it just made me sad for him! I knew that the shots and other things would help him get better but he doesn't understand that, ya know? The second day we went to the dr. I didn't tell him that's where we were going, but as soon as we pulled into the parking lot he said: "No Todd! No Todd!" (that's our Dr.'s name). When I received your calls, txt messages & comments on here and facebook it seriously made me feel like we had a whole team of family and friends supporting us and it just lifted the burden that I felt! So seriously Thanks a ton! I'm never going to make light of "moral support" again! It's a real thing!!!

This too shall pass...

I remember when I was in 8th grade Biology (I think it was 8th grade...) and my biology teacher was crazy. Seriously! He really scared me - and once he dunked a kid's head in the fish tank! (Did any of you have Mr. Maughn?!) I remember telling my Granny how much I dreaded going to Biology and she said to me : "This too shall pass." At the time I thought 8th grade was going to stretch on forever! Every day I had to go to this class with this teacher that seriously scared me and it seemed like it would never end!

Well now I look back on 8th grade and realize how fast things really do go by - just at the time it sometimes seems so long! Right now we are doing well - we are just having a hard time getting all the way healthy! Poor Scooter has Pneumonia. It started as croup last Thursday but he just wasn't getting better & he was sleeping on my shoulder or in my lap for most of the day. We took him back to our dr. yesterday & his oxygen levels were low- so he had to have a shot and a chest x-ray and they suctioned out his lungs. (I was a little freaked out when I heard he had to have his lungs suctioned - but it sounds worse than it is. He still didn't like it by any means, but they just put a very small tube in his nose & it gets all the gunk out!) We went back to the dr. today just to make sure his oxygen levels were up - but unfortunately they were not. So Scooter had another shot & another trip to the hospital for suctioning. Poor kiddo! We can tell that the shot & the other antibiotics hes taking are starting to help though- thank goodness! He is not sleeping all day any more & he's smiling, laughing & talking more! (oh I missed his sweet smile!!). Every time he gets sick I just feel a HUGE feeling of gratitude that he is normally so healthy. I don't know how parents who have chronically sick kids do it- I really can't imagine anything harder than having your sweet little kid really sick.

So anywho... We have another trip to the dr. tomorrow- so hopefully his oxygen levels will be up & he'll keep getting better! We're lucky that he's such a little trooper! And I just have to say- I'm so lucky that Ryan is so amazing! I was freaked out (ok - maybe more than a "little" freaked out! ha ha!) when I found out we had to go to the hospital to get his lungs suctioned, so Ryan left work to come with us! He is just the best!!
