More Family Fun!

Here are just some more pictures of the fun we had with Ryan's family.
Here are Ryan and Derek swimming! From the grins on their faces you can tell they are having a great time! Derek loves to ride on Ryan's shoulders! And he usually uses Ryan's ears to hold on, but here he is using Ryan's eyes instead. Ouch!
This is when we went bowling, and Ryan had just bowled while holding Derek. Scooter is doing the sign for "more!"
Matt & Katie. Katie was nice enough to play with Scooter while we were bowling - since she has a bad back & wasn't able to bowl. (thanks again for that!)
All three of us after bowling! I just thought this turned out cute! And I thought this one with Ry & Scooter, Ryan's mom & dad & Matt & Katie was really cute! (Please don't any of you tell me that you don't like it since it's a swimmin' picture! You all look great!)

Miyake Family Fun!

When you read the title for this post, if you heard in your head: "Tanner Family Fun Night!" - then I am very proud of you!
We have just had a blast while Ryan's family has been visiting! Here are some of the fun pictures from their visit!

Here is Scooter when we went to dinner at Maccaroni Grill. He was hammin' it up for the camera, and for his audience! We all had fun watching him! Ryan's sister Alli and her fiancee James. They got engaged while they were out here! Congratulations!
Scooter just hanging out at Grandma & Grandpa's hotel.

Giving goodbye hugs to Auntie Alli - she & James, and Great Grandma & Grandpa left on Monday.

Us with Ryan's sweet Granmda & Grandpa Miyake! They are seriously two of the sweetest people ever! Ryan's Grandma gave Derek some rice crackers while she was here and he loved them!

The Kids! This is Ryan and all his siblings and their spouses/finacees. From the left we have: Steven & Katelynn, James & Alli, Matt & Katie, and Ryan, me & Scooter.
The whole gang! (p.s. - Aubs, if you're reading this, I borrowed your shirt for the picture! I hope that's ok! tee hee!) Being silly with Auntie Katelynn!

And that is why I am Not a practical joker...

We have had so much fun having Ryan's family in town! We had a family BBQ on Sunday, and Ryan's dad kept giving me a hard time - saying I was a trouble maker! (That is so not true!) So, I decided that if he was calling me a trouble maker, I might as well cause some trouble, ha ha! I really am not a practical joke person! Honest! I never want to make people feel bad, and I always learned that "If you're going to dish it out, you better be able to take it!" Well, I don't particularly like having jokes played on me, so I don't play them on other people. But I decided that when we went to dinner on Monday night, I would tell the servers that it was Jeff's b-day. I planned that I would tell them that he didn't want them to sing, & he would deny that it was his birthday, but we needed to sing to him! I told Ryan about it, and when we were at dinner I told everyone else, except Jeff of course. They agreed to go along with me and say it was his birthday! Well... the actual event was much funnier in my mind that in real life!! The workers came to sing to him & Jeff said it wasn't his birthday. They really believed it was - and they asked him if he would stand up so they could sing to him. He said, "No." I was like, um... crap! They sang anyway, and he said, "It isn't my birthday!" and he did not look very happy. At that second, I remembered why I am NOT a joke player. I felt so bad! It kind of ruins the whole point of playing a joke when the joker is apologizing repeatedly and worrying that her not laughing father in law is ticked at her! He told me he was not mad, though, and when we went to dinner the next night and they were singing to someone, he just looked at me and shook his head! I told him that he would think of me everytime they sing to someone in a restaurant! And he said he would - he would think of me & it would remind him that he didn't get even with me yet...Um, should I be worried?!
Oh, and just a side note: joking around with people, and saying things like "I worked for the FBI," or "I used to be on the mini golf profesional circuit" are not practical jokes - that is just being silly, and sometimes peole believe you because they don't expect it! Totally different from playing jokes!

Goodbye & Hello

Yesterday we said goodbye to my mom and Aubs - they went to Virginia to visit our aunt Amy. Her twin boys are getting baptised and my mom & Aubs were able to go for that! We also said hello to Ry's mom & dad, his sister Alli and her boyfriend James. They are here visiting from Missouri. And today Ryan's Grandma & Grandpa Miyake and His brother Matt and his wife Katie are coming in to town! Yay! Last night we went mini golfing at Trafalga, and Scooter really had a great time! (well, we all did!!)

Here is Derek getting ready to go golfing. He loved carrying around the clubs! Here is Ryan's sister Katelynn (she's out here going to school!), her finacee Steven and her roommate Katie!

Derek loved sitting on Ryan's shoulders while he was golfing. He would lean over and watch Ryan and then say "Ohhhh" when Ryan hit the ball!

He's getting ready for the Mini PGA tour! Go Scooter!
Derek and Auntie Alli, practicing their swing!

Scooter had so much fun looking at all the games inside of Trafalga. He especially loved this driving one - we would get him down and then he would look up at us and say "more, more!"

Uh-oh, I might be in trouble...

Yesterday I was reading my parenting magazine. It is one of my favorite magazines. This Visa add caught my eye - it said: "Good parenting begins with closet space." I was like, what? Somehow "closet space" never made my list of top 3 important parenting traits. I could just picture Scooter saying when he gets older..."Well, my parents didn't do such and such, but they had Closet Space!!" I definitely think it's important to be clean and organized (yeah, definitely not perfect at that yet, ha ha!) but I think Scooter is going to be ok, even if we don't have a ton of closet space. Who knows, though?! Maybe I'm wrong and this is the answer that parents have been searching for for years! Who knew the secret to good parenting was closet space?!

A Fun Day at Nanas!

Yesterday we spent the afternoon at my moms house. She has a really cute little pool that we filled up - Derek really liked playing with the hose while the pool was filling up! He had a fun time swimming, too. He just loves to be outside and he loves the water! After swimming we rode the plasma car for a while. I didn't know he could ride it by himself, usually I ride it with him. But he just climbed on and started going - it was so cute! Later on that night Ryan's sister Katelynn came over for dinner. She just came out here to go to school - and it's so fun to have her close by! Ryan's entire family is coming out next week, and we are really looking forward to a fun visit!

I thought this picture was so cool - how the water is flying through the air! He had so much fun with the hose! On the plasma car, all by himself.
Scooter & Auntie Katelynn. He was helping her with her computer. Don't ya love his tan lines?!

Biking

A few years ago Ryan and I bought bikes and we have really enjoyed biking together! Recently we bought a little seat for Scooter so Ryan can pull him behind his bike. He likes going for rides - now! The first few times we went he wasn't so sure if he liked it. A few days ago we went for a ride, and Scooter fell fast asleep! Isn't he so cute?!

Edible Playdough!

I have been wanting to try edible playdough for a while, but I wasn't sure if Scooter would really want to play with it! So we decided to make some this morning - and he loved it! It was so fun to watch him. I got out some cookie cutters and showed him how to smash the playdough and then press the cookie cutter into it, and he did exactly that right after I showed him! He had a really fun time playing with, and eating, the playdough. It actually tasted pretty good (yep, I tried some too!). I think he kind of got a kick out of it, that he could play with it and eat it too! (Just fyi, the recipe I used was: 1 cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup honey and 2 cups powdered sugar. Actually, I halfed that recipe because we didn't need that much!)

Let's Make Cookies!

Last night Scooter and I decided to try out a new cookie recipe! (oatmeal, tofee choc.chip - they turned out pretty yummy!) This is Scooter helping me while we were baking cookies! It was so funny - he took everything out of the drawers! We had one drawer of just candy, and of course he was thrilled when he found that one! He's probably thinking, "We should bake some more, Mom!"

Book Club!

So it was book club again last night! We read "The Westing Game" this month - and it is such a fun book! I really like it a lot! Usually for book club we (my Mom, Lins, Aubs, Erica and Me) go to dinner and talk about the book! Or we cook dinner at my moms and talk about the book! We were at my moms last night and we had a lot of fun! Something about being in the kitchen messes with your ears, though! Lins kept hearing what we were saying wrong! This happened last time we had book club at my moms, too. Erica said something about "martial arts," and Lins said: "March Larch? What is march larch?!" Tee hee! How funny! While we were having book club, Ry took Derek to feed the ducks and to get a frosty! What an Awesome daddy!!

A Proud Moment!

A few nights ago I went into our room and there was Scooter - reading a book! It made me so happy!!
